BBB Award !

O.K....I admit that I have been "slacking" on keeping the blog updated, and I could say how busy I have been, or it is just that crazy time of year, but I won't make excuses cause I know that EVERYBODY is busy this time of year, and there is just not enough time in the day to get everything on our "to do" list done!!! Soooooo I will just go ahead and accept the BBB, BIG BAD BLOGGER Award!!! LOL! Today though, I did manage to get lucky and find sooooo many treasures at an Estate Sale this morning......I for sure was doing the "Happy Dance"! Then had to take my sweet momma for one of those colonoscopy things.....she for SURE was NOT doing the "Happy Dance"! LOL! On a good note though, she got a good report! Tomorrow I will start working "Hard for the money" as I have sooooo much to make, bling and get ready for our next Canton Weekend which is coming waaaaaaay to fast! Once again, we aim to have a booth full of treasures and great gift items for Christmas.......soooooo I hope you are making your list and checking it twice, cause The Girls Gone Junkin will try to have everything "Nice"!!! We do love our customers, and promise to put some "joy" in your "jingle"!

Falling Behind!

Yep....fall is in the air, and it was a beautiful day here in the Lone Star State today with temps in the high 70's! And, yep to the fact that I have been "falling behind" on updating our blog!!! After a crazy, record busy weekend in Canton last week, it took me several days to recoop.....I call it "The Canton Coma", as all I can do for a couple of days is rest and sleep! LOL! We were all soooooo THANKFUL for all of our friends and customers who came out and shopped with us!!!! We sooooo appreciate each and everyone of you! Another bit of news since my last post.........Jenny from Faith and Pearls will be joining our Girls Gone Junkin team starting next month! She is so creative, and makes some awesome,unique jewelry, and we are so happy to have her join us in Canton......she is not only talented, but a sweet and fun young lady to boot!!! Thats about it for now, hope you have had a fun, filled weekend and if you were on the "junkin trail", hope you found lot's and lot's of treasures!!!

I t's time to let the cat out of the bag...I have been waiting to tell this for a while now, but had to make sure everything was a done deal. I have had a dream of always owning my own store, and the opportunity has come. I have left Girls Gone Junkin' and will be opening Ruby Ellen's in Hurst, Tx. (Details for location will come later as progress is made.) I am so excited, that I can hardly stand it! We picked the name because of our grandmothers. Their names were Ruby and Mary Ellen..and they were great friends while growing up. They would be so proud! Hopefully, if things go smoothly, we will be open in December. Cathy will still be Girls Gone Junkin', and still have the same AWESOME booth at Canton...make sure that is on your list to stop by when you are there, you won't be disappointed. I want to thank Cathy for all of the fun, wild, crazy and stressful times that we had....yes, we should have written a journal, because no one would believe the things we have been through and the stories we have to tell. I wish Cathy continued success and happiness, which I know she will do! I also wanted to thank Shelly.....your advice and info. were much needed! Thank you to all of my friends/customers who have supported me for the past 4 and a half years...I will miss each and every one of you, come see me if you are in the area. Last, but not least, thanks to my sisters for believing in me and having faith.....I love all three of you so much and I can't wait to get started on this new adventure. More updates to come! HAPPY HUMP DAY.....

It is another Beautiful fall day here in Texas.....Home of our great baseball team, Our Texas Rangers...I just felt the need to add that! LOL! Between watching the games all week, getting ready for Canton Weekend, and just stayin "a float" with all the other day things in a day, my "stress" level is a "tad" bit on the high side!!! But, I do find that sometimes that makes us work harder, faster and get alot more done.......that is why this post is going to be a little on the short side....not to say I just finished my Starbucks Latte with an extra shot!!! Woo Hoo....my fingers are going to town! LOL! F.Y.I. we are having a "Costume Contest" on our FB..so if you want to have a chance to win one of our favorite burlap junkin bags, just go to the Girls Gone Junkin FB and send us one of your favorite costume pics of when you were growing up....Or....if like me, you are STILL trying to get there...send us one of your Big Girl costumes!!!

Busy, Busy and Busy!

Guess it is time to update our blog, as I can't believe it is still talking about Columbus Day!! LOL! What can I say, except this is a BUSY time of the year....between junkin, making and blinging goodies, a trip to Austin this past weekend to spend time with my sweet grandson, and watching our Texas Rangers make it to the World Series "Woo Hoo".....my world has just been "crazy busy"!! But, I would not have it any other way!!! MONDAY...MONDAY.....

HAPPY COLUMBUS DAY ya'll !!! Hope you all enjoyed your weekend, I sure did! I was lucky to find a truck load of junk aka Treasures Sat. as hubby and I hit the "junkin trail" early!! Will take some pics when I can! Then before the much needed rain came through, I started working on getting my porch in a "Fall Mode"......still not finished though! Now, on to clean house and get that "Fall Mode" goin on inside!!! And to top it all off.....our Texas Rangers won game 1!!! Yaaa!

Hope their "Karma" continues .......GO RANGERS!!!

FALL IN CANTON TX.

Sending all of our Blogger friends a BIG HELLO AND HAPPY THURSDAY!!! I feel guilty about not keeping our blog updated more, BUT I find it is alot easier and quicker to keep our Girls Gone Junkin Facebook......sooooooo if you are not a friend of ours on our FB, please hop on board, we would love to have ya "Like" us!!! I am JUST springing back from our weekend in Canton, and boy was it ever a busy one!!! It was sooooo nice to see the people out and shopping after our HOTTER then HAITIE's summer!!! We love seeing our customers that only come in the fall and spring, and all of you who made it from out of state too!!! I just want to say THANK-YOU SOOOOO MUCH for shopping with us and supporting what we love to do!!! Now it is time to start thinking about our next round, as it will be here before we know it!!! Fall Friday......

Yep...it is here! After a very long and record breaking HOT summer in Texas, fall arrived this morning, and I am just "Happy...Happy...Happy" about it! My ac is off, and the windows are open! Now, on to other "junkin" news.......we have been junkin...creating...painting...and blinging all month now getting ready for our up coming Canton weekend, as this kicks off our busy shopping season! We are soooo ready and look forward to seeing our friends who only come out in the fall and spring to do their Canton shopping!!! Hope your making that list, and have your walking shoes ready, as there is ALWAYS so much to see and shop for this time of the year!!! Also, wanted to say if you don't follow us on FaceBook, please do as we post pics and comment about what we have going on at least every other day!!! I have found that for me, it is just quicker and easier to keep it updated about our business......I LOVE all of the beautiful blogs out there and have soooooo many that I follow, but, find it can consume sooooooo much of my "junkin'' time for our business and once I start checking out and commenting on one blog, I find myself { like right now } not getting dressed before noon, much less getting anything else done!!! lOL! BUT, we do luv and appreciate all of you who do follow our blog!!! Soooooo, on that note, guess I better get off the computer and get dressed, make the bed, and get all the other things done that are on my list today!!! Oh....and just in case we have not mentioned it lately.....

Junkin Treasures.............

Thought I should update our blog as we have not been very good at doing that lately!!! Oooh the BUSY LIFE of a Girl Gone Junkin! LOL! First and formost, we have been receiving rain for over an hour here in the DFW metroplex....you know that stuff that falls from the sky and looks like little drops of water!!! In fact, I just had to pop the cork on a bottle of wine and have a toast...and might just need to toast one more time as we have needed rain for sooooooo long!!!

Yesterday and today, while Deidra has been working on her jewelry creations, I have been hitting the junkin trail "Hard an Heavy" getting ready for our first fall Canton weekend!!! I have really hit the "jack pot" at some of the sales and thrift stores I have found.......some great vintage clothing items, one of which is this awesome, sweet pink "tutu"!!! What is it about ballet slippers and tutu's......I just LOVE them!!!! In fact, I still have my first pair of ballet shoes, and my tap shoes of when I was a little girl....no tutus though! Then today, hubby and I went to this awesome Estate sale near our home.....found sooooo many treasures.....lamps, furniture items...a couple of little sweet iron stone pitchers....great old bucket...and then some awesome books....some from the late 1800's!! In fact, at the this sale they had over 15000 books!!! YES..that is fifteen thousand! I have never seen anything like it! It actually filled up a huge barn! The woman who had lived there, had at one time owned a book store in Calif. and when she came to Texas brought all of the books with her......15 trucks full!!!! I would have loved to stay there and go through every box, but had more sales to get to! I will be busy all weekend pricing and packing up all of my goodies as they will all be going to Canton in a couple of weeks!! Hope you are planning your fall shopping trip and coming out to see us as our booth will be "Running Over" with Treasures!!!

Bible Bling........

Hope you are all having a great day, and starting your week off with a "Bang"!!! Have you ever had an extra Bible that you were just not sure where to keep it??? Well....I love to find old Bibles at Estate Sales and embellish the cover with lace, jewels and just anything else that I have for embellishing! We all have our Bible for reading or perhaps it was given to us for a special reason....in fact, I love to collect old little Sunday School Bibles as they are just sweet and have a special meaning to someone at some time in their childhood! But, if you have an extra one, why not cover it with some special treasures and display it on a coffee table or give it as a special gift! HUGS AN JUNKIN LUV.........Cathy aka GGJ

LAND THAT I LOVE........

Today is a day to reflect on the events that happened 10 yrs. ago today......It is one of those days that we will never forget, who we were with, where we were and how we found out of the horror that changed our country forever!!! I fly my flag today with such pride, and in honor of all those lives that were lost that day, but most of all to show how proud I am to be an American and also how Thankful I am to those who stand up and fight for our FREEDOM everyday!!!

Canton Weekend........

Back from our Canton Weekend, and I want to give a BIG SHOUT OUT to all of you who came out and shopped with us!!! Cooler weather and lot's of people was a nice sight after our HOT, HOT summer!!! We sooooo enjoyed seeing some of our mutual junkin pals, as well as friends and family!!! This will be a short post as I have alot of shows to catch up on! LOL! HERE COMES THE BRIDE......

38 years ago today, I married my High School sweet heart!!! Yes, I guess you could say that I was a "child bride"! LOL! Now...we got married outside in the Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens and thank the Lord that it for sure was NOT this hot.....it was only a "normal" Texas summer back then....other wise we might have been smack in the middle of the fountains to say our "I Do's"!!! So needless to say this is a busy week!!! Mr. Junkin aka my hubby and I will be celebrating this weekend by staying in Dallas and going to the Keith Urban concert.....which I am looking soooo forward to!!! Deidra is back from Florida, and we are BUSY getting ready for our upcoming Canton Weekend!~ We will be bringing a trailer load of new stuff and will also have our "neck coolers" again......looks like we might just need them! LOL! My hubby said that he hopes that I do not need to take one to the concert to help "cool" me down when Keith Urban takes the stage!!! Uuuummmm, he does have a good point! wink! Hope you are all enjoying your Friday and have something fun planned for the weekend!!! It is STILL really HOT here in Texas, in fact, 107 is the high today...Uuggg! So long for some cooler weather but since it does not seem to be coming around any time soon, guess I will just stay in and create more goodies for Canton Weekend!!! Deidra has been a "beach bunny" all this past week in Destin Florida and for me, besides being jealous...LOL....I have been doing some creating and "day dreamin" about fall, and upcoming Canton and what "new treasures" we can fill the booth with........my wheels are ALWAYS spinning!! LOL! We are so blessed to know so many creative people in the "junkin world".....one being Mark from The Vintage Sign Yard! He sets up in the field in Canton a few rows behind us and makes some of the most AWESOME old signs.....some of which he displays in our booth! You can also follow him on facebook!

A FEW OF OUR FAVORITE THINGS.......

HAPPY MONDAY blogger peeps!!! Deidra is enjoying some down time in Florida this week and I am at home on my "staycation".....wa...wa...wa...LOL!!! With the way our next Canton weekend falls, it works out that we have all of August off and it has been so nice to have a little break from our HOT weather that we have been having this summer and we are soooo hoping that it will be a tad bit cooler when we go back in a few weeks!!! We will have alot of new treasures, and hope that we will see some of our friends and shoppers that take a break from Canton during the HOT SUMMER time!!!!
