Happy Wednesday Blogger friends......We are dusting off our boots and rounding up our petticoats as we are hitting the road to Waxahachie Tx. in March for the Petticoats on The Prairie show! The date is March 17th, and what a better way to kick off the Spring Season but to come out and shop under the Big Top and find lot's of things to take home and "feather your nest"! There will be lot's of Fun, Food and SHOPPING, sooooooo call your "junkin" peeps, and plan a girls get away to Waxahachie! And, if you are wanting a hotel, there are several there with some good rates during that weekend! Will give you more info. as the date gets closer.....hope to see ya'll there!

Yep, Christmas came and went, we kicked off a "New Year", and I Promise that I am going to be a BETTER BLOGGER!!! Soooo if anyone out there in Bloggerland still follows us, here is a little run down of what we have been up to!!! We have had a fun filled and Blessed "junkin year"!!! As you know from an earlier post, Deidra decided to leave Canton and the business to start a new adventure with her sister....aka her new adventure being "Ruby Ellens" in Hurst Tx. which opened this month.....I am a firm believer that when one door closes another one opens, and thru the new door came my friend Jenny of Faith and Pearl!!! Now she is the baby in our group.....meaning the youngest one aboard, and very talented! Not to say she is cute as a bug and can design jewelry that will knock your socks off......we are so glad to have her with us! Brenda of Whimsy Love, is still designing and sewing her "hippie chic vintage clothing line" that we all love......and my sister-in-law Pam is still "rocking" our booth with her old doors and windows that she tweeks with her own personal graphic designs!!! Sue still blows me away with all of her wonderful finds, and she is the QUEEN of DISPLAYING!!! I still continue to learn so much from her and am so glad she is a "member of our GGJ Gang"!!! As for myself, I am still always on the junkin trail looking for treasures that I can "tweek" and bring to Canton to sell in our booth! My mom still continues to sew the purses and junk bags for our booth, and my hubby aka Mr. Junkin helps me with the furniture, AND in more ways then I can begin to name! I still manage to keep our GGJ Facebook, and am always looking for ways to promote the business, and promise to find more time for our blog! LOL! Between all of this though, I still have time to put on my GiGi hat when my sweet lil grandson is in town and spend as much time as I can with him!!!Lookin back over this past year, I feel so Blessed! The business continues to grow, and I love all of our friends and customers that continue to support us........we all appreciate each and everyone of you, and can't wait to see what 2012 has in store for The Girls Gone Junkin!!!

O.K....I admit that I have been "slacking" on keeping the blog updated, and I could say how busy I have been, or it is just that crazy time of year, but I won't make excuses cause I know that EVERYBODY is busy this time of year, and there is just not enough time in the day to get everything on our "to do" list done!!! Soooooo I will just go ahead and accept the BBB, BIG BAD BLOGGER Award!!! LOL! Today though, I did manage to get lucky and find sooooo many treasures at an Estate Sale this morning......I for sure was doing the "Happy Dance"! Then had to take my sweet momma for one of those colonoscopy things.....she for SURE was NOT doing the "Happy Dance"! LOL! On a good note though, she got a good report! Tomorrow I will start working "Hard for the money" as I have sooooo much to make, bling and get ready for our next Canton Weekend which is coming waaaaaaay to fast! Once again, we aim to have a booth full of treasures and great gift items for Christmas.......soooooo I hope you are making your list and checking it twice, cause The Girls Gone Junkin will try to have everything "Nice"!!! We do love our customers, and promise to put some "joy" in your "jingle"!

Falling Behind!

Yep....fall is in the air, and it was a beautiful day here in the Lone Star State today with temps in the high 70's! And, yep to the fact that I have been "falling behind" on updating our blog!!! After a crazy, record busy weekend in Canton last week, it took me several days to recoop.....I call it "The Canton Coma", as all I can do for a couple of days is rest and sleep! LOL! We were all soooooo THANKFUL for all of our friends and customers who came out and shopped with us!!!! We sooooo appreciate each and everyone of you! Another bit of news since my last post.........Jenny from Faith and Pearls will be joining our Girls Gone Junkin team starting next month! She is so creative, and makes some awesome,unique jewelry, and we are so happy to have her join us in Canton......she is not only talented, but a sweet and fun young lady to boot!!! Thats about it for now, hope you have had a fun, filled weekend and if you were on the "junkin trail", hope you found lot's and lot's of treasures!!!

I t's time to let the cat out of the bag...I have been waiting to tell this for a while now, but had to make sure everything was a done deal. I have had a dream of always owning my own store, and the opportunity has come. I have left Girls Gone Junkin' and will be opening Ruby Ellen's in Hurst, Tx. (Details for location will come later as progress is made.) I am so excited, that I can hardly stand it! We picked the name because of our grandmothers. Their names were Ruby and Mary Ellen..and they were great friends while growing up. They would be so proud! Hopefully, if things go smoothly, we will be open in December. Cathy will still be Girls Gone Junkin', and still have the same AWESOME booth at Canton...make sure that is on your list to stop by when you are there, you won't be disappointed. I want to thank Cathy for all of the fun, wild, crazy and stressful times that we had....yes, we should have written a journal, because no one would believe the things we have been through and the stories we have to tell. I wish Cathy continued success and happiness, which I know she will do! I also wanted to thank Shelly.....your advice and info. were much needed! Thank you to all of my friends/customers who have supported me for the past 4 and a half years...I will miss each and every one of you, come see me if you are in the area. Last, but not least, thanks to my sisters for believing in me and having faith.....I love all three of you so much and I can't wait to get started on this new adventure. More updates to come! It is another Beautiful fall day here in Texas.....Home of our great baseball team, Our Texas Rangers...I just felt the need to add that! LOL! Between watching the games all week, getting ready for Canton Weekend, and just stayin "a float" with all the other day things in a day, my "stress" level is a "tad" bit on the high side!!! But, I do find that sometimes that makes us work harder, faster and get alot more done.......that is why this post is going to be a little on the short side....not to say I just finished my Starbucks Latte with an extra shot!!! Woo Hoo....my fingers are going to town! LOL! What can I say, except this is a BUSY time of the year....between junkin, making and blinging goodies, a trip to Austin this past weekend to spend time with my sweet grandson, and watching our Texas Rangers make it to the World Series "Woo Hoo".....my world has just been "crazy busy"!! But, I would not have it any other way!!! HAPPY COLUMBUS DAY ya'll !!! Hope you all enjoyed your weekend, I sure did! I was lucky to find a truck load of junk aka Treasures Sat. as hubby and I hit the "junkin trail" early!! Will take some pics when I can! Then before the much needed rain came through, I started working on getting my porch in a "Fall Mode"......still not finished though! Now, on to clean house and get that "Fall Mode" goin on inside!!! And to top it all off.....our Texas Rangers won game 1!!! Yaaa!

I feel guilty about not keeping our blog updated more, BUT I find it is alot easier and quicker to keep our Girls Gone Junkin Facebook......sooooooo if you are not a friend of ours on our FB, please hop on board, we would love to have ya "Like" us!!! I am JUST springing back from our weekend in Canton, and boy was it ever a busy one!!! It was sooooo nice to see the people out and shopping after our HOTTER then HAITIE's summer!!! Yep...it is here! After a very long and record breaking HOT summer in Texas, fall arrived this morning, and I am just "Happy...Happy...Happy" about it! My ac is off, and the windows are open! Now, on to other "junkin" news.......we have been junkin...creating...painting...and blinging all month now getting ready for our up coming Canton weekend, as this kicks off our busy shopping season! We are soooo ready and look forward to seeing our friends who only come out in the fall and spring to do their Canton shopping!!! Hope your making that list, and have your walking shoes ready, as there is ALWAYS so much to see and shop for this time of the year!!! Also, wanted to say if you don't follow us on FaceBook, please do as we post pics and comment about what we have going on at least every other day!!! I have found that for me, it is just quicker and easier to keep it updated about our business......I LOVE all of the beautiful blogs out there and have soooooo many that I follow, but, find it can consume sooooooo much of my "junkin'' time for our business and once I start checking out and commenting on one blog, I find myself { like right now } not getting dressed before noon, much less getting anything else done!!! lOL! BUT, we do luv and appreciate all of you who do follow our blog!!! Soooooo, on that note, guess I better get off the computer and get dressed, make the bed, and get all the other things done that are on my list today!!! Oh....and just in case we have not mentioned it lately.....

Junkin Treasures.............

Thought I should update our blog as we have not been very good at doing that lately!!! Oooh the BUSY LIFE of a Girl Gone Junkin! LOL! First and formost, we have been receiving rain for over an hour here in the DFW metroplex....you know that stuff that falls from the sky and looks like little drops of water!!! In fact, I just had to pop the cork on a bottle of wine and have a toast...and might just need to toast one more time as we have needed rain for sooooooo long!!!

Yesterday and today, while Deidra has been working on her jewelry creations, I have been hitting the junkin trail "Hard an Heavy" getting ready for our first fall Canton weekend!!! I have really hit the "jack pot" at some of the sales and thrift stores I have found.......some great vintage clothing items, one of which is this awesome, sweet pink "tutu"!!! What is it about ballet slippers and tutu's......I just LOVE them!!!! In fact, I still have my first pair of ballet shoes, and my tap shoes of when I was a little girl....no tutus though! Then today, hubby and I went to this awesome Estate sale near our home.....found sooooo many treasures.....lamps, furniture items...a couple of little sweet iron stone pitchers....great old bucket...and then some awesome books....some from the late 1800's!! In fact, at the this sale they had over 15000 books!!! YES..that is fifteen thousand! I have never seen anything like it! It actually filled up a huge barn! The woman who had lived there, had at one time owned a book store in Calif. and when she came to Texas brought all of the books with her......15 trucks full!!!! I would have loved to stay there and go through every box, but had more sales to get to! I will be busy all weekend pricing and packing up all of my goodies as they will all be going to Canton in a couple of weeks!! Hope you are planning your fall shopping trip and coming out to see us as our booth will be "Running Over" with Treasures!!!

Bible Bling........

Hope you are all having a great day, and starting your week off with a "Bang"!!! Have you ever had an extra Bible that you were just not sure where to keep it??? Well....I love to find old Bibles at Estate Sales and embellish the cover with lace, jewels and just anything else that I have for embellishing! We all have our Bible for reading or perhaps it was given to us for a special reason....in fact, I love to collect old little Sunday School Bibles as they are just sweet and have a special meaning to someone at some time in their childhood! Today is a day to reflect on the events that happened 10 yrs. ago today......It is one of those days that we will never forget, who we were with, where we were and how we found out of the horror that changed our country forever!!! I fly my flag today with such pride, and in honor of all those lives that were lost that day, but most of all to show how proud I am to be an American and also how Thankful I am to those who stand up and fight for our FREEDOM everyday!!!

HERE COMES THE BRIDE......

38 years ago today, I married my High School sweet heart!!! Yes, I guess you could say that I was a "child bride"! LOL! Now...we got married outside in the Ft. Worth Botanical Gardens and thank the Lord that it for sure was NOT this hot.....it was only a "normal" Texas summer back then....other wise we might have been smack in the middle of the fountains to say our "I Do's"!!! So needless to say this is a busy week!!! Mr. Junkin aka my hubby and I will be celebrating this weekend by staying in Dallas and going to the Keith Urban concert.....which I am looking soooo forward to!!! Deidra is back from Florida, and we are BUSY getting ready for our upcoming Canton Weekend!~ We will be bringing a trailer load of new stuff and will also have our "neck coolers" again......looks like we might just need them! LOL! My hubby said that he hopes that I do not need to take one to the concert to help "cool" me down when Keith Urban takes the stage!!! Uuuummmm, he does have a good point! wink! Hope you are all enjoying your Friday and have something fun planned for the weekend!!! It is STILL really HOT here in Texas, in fact, 107 is the high today...Uuggg! So long for some cooler weather but since it does not seem to be coming around any time soon, guess I will just stay in and create more goodies for Canton Weekend!!! Deidra has been a "beach bunny" all this past week in Destin Florida and for me, besides being jealous...LOL....I have been doing some creating and "day dreamin" about fall, and upcoming Canton and what "new treasures" we can fill the booth with........my wheels are ALWAYS spinning!! LOL! We are so blessed to know so many creative people in the "junkin world".....one being Mark from The Vintage Sign Yard! He sets up in the field in Canton a few rows behind us and makes some of the most AWESOME old signs.....some of which he displays in our booth! You can also follow him on facebook!

HAPPY MONDAY blogger peeps!!! Deidra is enjoying some down time in Florida this week and I am at home on my "staycation".....wa...wa...wa...LOL!!! With the way our next Canton weekend falls, it works out that we have all of August off and it has been so nice to have a little break from our HOT weather that we have been having this summer and we are soooo hoping that it will be a tad bit cooler when we go back in a few weeks!!! YES...we are still HOT here in Texas!!! In fact, I think we broke the record of 1980 today.....so many days in a row of triple digits! Uggg! The way I sweat, I should be wearing a SIZE 2, BUT not the case so guess ya better put a 1 in front of that 2! LOL! Deidra is preparing to go to Florida on vacation, and I will be here at home on a "STAYCATION" getting ready for our next Canton weekend!!! Today, I did venture out and stopped by an Estate Sale, but by the time I went through everything looking for a treasure or two, and visited with some of my junkin peeps that I know, I was sweating bullets!!! Orrrrr, guess you could say that I had a nice GLOW on my face! LOL! Hope you are all finding ways to keep cool as our temperatures just continue to rise!!!! We just got back from a HOT Canton Weekend, and were surprised to see the shoppers that came out and endured our heat!!! We appreciate all of you that came by and shopped with us.......our neck coolers were a hit for sure, and if the heat goes on, we will bring them back next month!!! WOW!! It has been a BUSY month for Deidra and I, and thought our blog should be updated before heading out to Canton in the morning!!! Especially since we have not done so since Fathers Day! LOL! Besides hitting the junkin trail, and working on jewelry, or I should say Deidra has been working on jewelry as I have had more fun events going on this month and had to put a few Canton related things on the back burner.......I have attended a party....a wedding...and most important, had a Birthday party at our house for our grandson who turned 3! All of which were on the weekend before Canton........and I will just say, although we all had such a wonderful, fun filled time, and made some great "family memories", I am getting tooooooo darn old for 3 events in one weekend!!! My mind says yes, but the body says Noooooo, and you are gonna pay for all that fun! LOL! Now, I am getting ready to price and pack, help load the trailer, and head out for Canton Weekend in the morning........so hope you are planning on coming out to see us, and who knows we might just have some items marked down for the 4th of July Weekend!!! Fathers Day.......

I hope you have all enjoyed your Fathers Day Weekend, and if you are blessed to still have your dad, hope you got to spend some time together!!! My dad has been gone 11 yrs. now, but there is not a Fathers Day that goes by that I don't miss him! I have soooooo many fun, great memories that I will always cherish! One being that he loved to restore old, vintage pick up trucks! He would work so hard turning them in to a real beauty......he did it all from the motor, covering the seats, to the paint and body work! If he were still here, I just know that he would have one for me to tool around and do my junkin in......and it would be painted "pink" with Girls Gone Junkin on the tailgate!!! I have to admit, that sometimes it makes me a lil sad that he is not here to be apart of my "junkin" adventures, but I know in my heart that he is smiling down on me, and someday I do hope to have that old vintage pick up truck......painted pink of course!

Fun times in Canton......

Deidra and I have been back from our Canton weekend now a week tonight, and I thought it would be a good idea to update our blog before I call it a night! I must admit though after watching our Dallas Mavs win and take home the title of NBA CHAMPS, I am just a tad bit still wired up! LOL! We had a great and fun filled Canton weekend, especially on Friday when the Gilded Life Girls came riding in to town...Canton that is, and on a chartered bus to boot! Shea and Debbie hosted a 3 day "creating" event in Dallas at their home which happens to be an old Church that words don't even begin to describe!!! The day spent shopping in Canton was part of the girls 3 day event......and they do know how to shop and have fun! We made so many new friends from around the United States, and among the group we were honored to meet Jo Packham, Editor-In-Chief of the magazine "Where Women Create"! Not only did we have the group shop with us, we also fed them lunch....right smack in the middle of our booth! We could never have done this without the help of Deidra's sister "Niecee" and my niece Sheena.....THANK YOU is not enough as these two are some kind of hard workers!!! This is one of the best and rewarding things about having our business in Canton......meeting and making new friends each month who have a love for "shabby, chippy, vintage decor. and "junk" aka treasures that is!!! I have to end with saying to Shea and Debbie....WE WILL MISS YOU, and Deidra and I are soooooo honored that we got to be apart of your last Gilded Life Event in Dallas before heading West......back to California!

Hello to everyone! I hope that you all are having a great Holiday weekend! As usual Cathy and I were complaining to each other today about how messy our rooms that we work in are. You know, the place where we make our treasures and goodies for Canton, and throw all of our stuff in that we find at estate sales, garage sales, and even the trash! The room where you don't dare throw anything away, because you might be able to use it someday...lol! We call it our JUNK HOARDER ROOM. Well, once again we came up with an idea to have a contest for this too! Actually Cathy and I may have already beat everyone at this. Do not clean your room up or even straighten it a little bit...Send your pictures to us at fourthds@yahoo.com and lets get this contest started! Wellll it is the weekend before Canton and ya'll know what Deidra and I are doing...........painting furniture, making jewelry, blinging everything in sight..LOL, and pricing an packing!!! WOW...thats a mouth full! LOL! In between all of this work though, I DO plan on taking that first dip in the pool to kick off our summer!!!! HAPPY SUNNY WEDNESDAY! As Canton Weekend is getting closer, Deidra and I are Busy, busy and more busy!! Not only do we look forward to seeing all of our regular customers, we are also honored to be hosting a luncheon for The Gilded Life ladies who will be coming to Canton for a one day shopping extravaganza!!! Now, Shea Fragoso and mom Debbie are the 2 wonderful, creative and artistic "queens" of this group and they will be hosting a weekend Creative Connection class where women fly in to Dallas from all over! Besides a trip to Canton for a day of fun and shopping, they will be working on a very creative project that Shea and Debbie have planned for them..........right dab, smack in the church were they reside! YEP, thats right, they live in this awesome, BEAUTIFUL church in the middle of Dallas......how cool is that!
Now, we will still be open for business Thur. thru Sunday as usual so hope you are coming out to see us.........what a great way to "kick off the summer"......junkin in Canton! Gotta go get busy, and when you get a chance, be sure and look up the Gilded Life and read about these two creative ladies whom we feel honored to have as Friends!

We are back from Hico, and had such a fun time seeing some of our "junkin" peeps! Denis from Ruby Grace's was set up right behind us, and next to him was Jennifer and Ronny from The Lone Star Antique Mall, where our Girls Gone Junkin business first started out! They have an awesome mall, and Jennifer has a "rockin" boutique at the back of the mall also! Maggie and Lilly from The Veranda in Canton were 2 of so many great vendors, and we were blessed with some great Texas Spring weather both days of the show! I also want to give a Big Shout Out to Mike and Brenda from The Homestead for hosting such a great show, and also "giving back" by charging $1.00 admission which went to the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center.......a great cause indeed! THANK-YOU ALL who came out and shopped with us! Another exciting thing that happened in our little junkin world this week, is that we are in the June issue of Southern Living Magazine!!! Yep, we are listed as one of the top 5 places to shop in an article about Canton Trade Days. I am STILL SMILING after first reading the article on the magazine isle in the middle of Wallmart........LOL! I am sure if anyone saw me, they must of thought WOW, that lady sure likes that magazine! We will be heading to Canton in just a couple of weeks, and boy do I still have alot to do to get ready.....but first, I am heading to Austin next week with the hubby and while he is attending a work related conference, I will be loving on my sweet little grandson and getting some R an R by the pool! Life is GRAND, and we are sooooooo blessed to have such wonderful friends and customers who support our LOVE OF JUNK!

O.K......I know that our blog has NOT been updated since before Easter and I really feel bad about that, BUT, we have just been "Busy lil Bees"! We had a great Canton weekend and really enjoyed seeing all of you that came out and shopped with us!! And if you didn't get to come to Canton, we are heading to Hico next week for the Homestead show on Fri. and Sat. We love this show and getting to meet up with all the other vendors there.....and if you have never been to the Homestead Store, it is a TREAT in itself! Sooooo call your junkin peeps and get your road trip planned!!! Something else we were honored to do is meet and hang out with the "Junkin Queen" herself, Ki of The Flea Market Magazine!! We were invited to Winni and Talula's last Fri. night and Ki was there signing her latest book!!! Now that was really a BIG DEAL to us getting to meet and visit with her........she is soooooo sweet and humble! And I must say if you have never been to Winni an Talula's in Athens, oh my, what are ya waitin for? Such a beautiful store with soooooo much "eye candy", WE LOVED IT! One plus about being in this business, is getting to meet soooooo many wonderful people who all have the same love for "junkin"!! Also, if you are not a fan of ours on our Girls Gone Junkin Facebook, we would love for you to "hop on board"! Hippity Hoppity Easter's On It's Way......

Being the week before Easter and Canton I am feeling a tad bit overwhelmed!!! My favorite saying for this week is going to be....."Don't sweat the small stuff ", but sometimes in this business that is HARD TO DO!!! LOL I am just wondering, does anyone else feel that way? Just curious! Today, I am painting furniture, designing "junk" bags and purses for my mom to sew, updating our facebook and blog, and then just the everyday other fun stuff.....washing, sweeping, watering my plants, making the bed etc. etc! The rest of the week, I will be working on some jewelry, pricing and packing all my "junk"...oops Treasures, filling Easter eggs, and making cake balls to take to our family gathering at my Aunt Debbies and Uncle Jims on Saturday! BUT.....during all of this "craziness", I will reflect on what a blessed year I have had and all I have to be thankful for.....all because of the real meaning of Easter!!! But after all of this, I have a feeling that my "cotton tale" is going to be a tad bit on the "tired side"! LOL We hope to see you in Canton or Hico for some fun shopping and Junkin.....Canton Weekend is April 28th thru May 1st and the Homestead Hico Show is May 13th and 14th.....we will have some great gift items for that special mom for Mothers Day which is May 8th!!!

For the Love of Junk!

I want to think all of you who visited our blog and left such "sweet" comments about my front porch....you just make me smile! I also wanted to share a few pics of some sweet treasures that I found on the "junkin" trail yesterday......it was a GREAT day in my lil ole "junkin" world!!! Also, after Canton Weekend we will be gearing up ato Hico again for the spring Homestead Show May 13th and 14th! We love doing this show and hope ya'll can plan a day trip and come on out for a great, junkin good time!!! There are so many good vendors and the Homestead Store is just wonderful!! Oh yea......the "fried" pickles at the one and only famous Koffee Kup restaurant in Hico are just to die for......ask for extra crunchy though! Another GREAT THING about the show is that this year there will be an admission charge of $1.oo that will go to the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. I think we have all been touched by this awful disease in some way or another, I know I have! Soooo what a great feeling to know that you can help someone and do some awesome shopping, all in a day!

Well, guess I need to sign off this computer and get to work.......Canton and Hico are just around the corner!!! HAVE A FUN, BLESSED WEEKEND!

Springtime in Texas

After Canton weekend, Deidra and I usually take about a week to "recoop" and just get some stuff done around our own "spaces"!!! Soooo this week I decided to finish giving my front porch a "spring touch"!!! I found these two old vintage lawn chairs last summer at a garage sale and just HAD to keep them!! They also have a sweet love seat that matches them!!! Since burlap is the rage right now, decided they needed to have a cushion covered in burlap to make them more "compfy"!! Like my spelling? LOL....... To protect them from the weather, I sprayed them with scotch guard!!! Thennnnn, I found this sweet polka dot fabric to cover some more pillows for my willow bench which use to be on the porch until the vintage chairs took over!! I do think I like the willow bench better just in the yard and ground cover!!! One of my favorite flowers is Red Geraniums....another reason that I loved the polka dot fabric as I thought they would compliment each other!!! Thats all for now, hope all of you are enjoying your "Spring time"!!!

Canton weekend

WOW!!!! We are back from Canton, and I really don't recall ever seeing the number of people that were there!!! If you paid us a visit, we Thank-You!!! We were blessed with beautiful weather, and lot's of shoppers!!! In fact, this is the second month in a row that I have sold out of furniture!!! YEEEEE HAW!!! Other important news, is that all 5 of my sweet, tea stained bunnies found new homes, and will end up in Easter Baskets I am sure!!! Sure wish I would have had more!!!!

Again, I want to Thank all of you who came out......we soooooo LOVE our customers, and friends who shop with us and support our "love of junk"!!!! Now, it is time to rest, recover and "gear up" for another round of junkin!!!

Today, I thought I would tea dye these sweet bunnies that I had saved to take to Canton being that Easter is on the way!! Now I have tea dyed MANY things........some being lace, fabrics, curtains, bedding, clothing and I could go on and on!!! I just love the way the tea gives that older, vintage look to almost anything! Now, I must admit that I have never dyed any type of stuffed animal, and when I got started with these sweet bunnies, it kinda bothered me.........it was like they were "Road Kill" being thrown in the stew pot or something!!! Now does this sound crazy???? Or maybe it could be all the fumes from the "E 6000" I have been using all week getting ready for Canton! I guess it is their little faces that did the trick! LOL I even stopped the process to grab the camera and take pics of the experience!!! O.K.....by now, you are either laughing your "cotton tail " off or thinking instead of "girl gone junkin", it's "girl gone wacky wabbit crazy"!!! Guess I will just let ya'll decide!

Spring is in the air!

Wow! This month is flying......after our busy Canton weekend, hubby and I took a quick trip to Austin to see our son and his family, also managed to squeeze some junkin in along the way! Then, when we got back home, I decided it was high time to get some "spring" cleaning done! In fact, I have been doing just that for 3 days now and my body is sure talking to me! Now that I am through, it is time to start getting ready for our next Canton weekend! Once again, we will be bringing you lot's of "spring specials" so hope you are marking your calendar.....Thur. March 31st thru April 3rd, and now that our time has changed, you will have an extra hour to shop as we don't close until the last customer leaves!!!

I cannot believe that it has been a year this month since we moved into our latest location in Canton. What a great year it has been! We have been blessed by so many "wonderful" faithful customers and lots of "new" ones! Congratulations to Natalie Neal, Carolyn Hilliard, Rita Allen, Debbie Bassinger. Lee Gorman, and Teresa Poindexter for getting their names drawn for prizes.

This past weekend, the weather was great and the people were taking advantage of it. Row 46 was packed! Row 46 has some of the greatest shopping at Canton. If you or someone you know is having a baby, this is the row to shop. You have everything from the most adorable bedding you could buy from Rocking Horse Designs, to the cutest clothing for babies and toddlers at Sugar and Spice and Tiny Turtles. If you are looking for the latest fashions, you HAVE to check out Dressing Gaudy and Plain Jane. If you cannot find what you are looking for at either of these stores, then it probably does not exist. They have such a large variety and their prices are great!

For home accessories, holiday decor and clothing...check out Simplicity. This store is just amazing. This store actually has something for everyone. Vases, candles, light fixtures, old doors, windows, clothing and more. Dressings, is a fabric store with all of the wonderful textiles you could imagine. If you don't sew, they will make it for you...you just pick out the material. I know that I have not mentioned several others on Row 46, but those will come later. I think that I have taken up enough room for now.

Celebrate good times......come on!!

I am sooooo excited as we have had BEAUTIFUL "junkin" weather here in Texas this past week! And, I am really excited about our forcast for Canton Weekend because due to the ice and snow, Deidra and I did not make it last month! I am heading to Royse City in the morning to have a "trunk" show with Mindy of the "P", and the Redneck Chic!!! So if any of ya'll are in the area, be sure and drop by......there will be lots of great "junk" in the trunk, music playing, and some refreshments too!!! How about a big ole Texas Yee Haw.....for a great weekend!!!

Then, Deidra and I will be packing, and loading our trunks again for Canton! She has been working all month on some new pendants, and they are just waaaaayyyy cute! And for all of you baseball moms and fans, she for sure has her game face on!!! No Strike Outs with these as they are just "outta the park" CUTE!!!

All I can say is ...........our Canton House will be full of sooooooo many sweet treasures that we hope you just can't live without!!! wink! So girls, call your junkin peeps and plan your "girl" trip and come out and help us celebrate our 1yr. anniversary on Row 46 as it is going to be a party! We will have drawings again for gift certificates, music playin, and some refreshments! I might even whip us some of my "famous" cake balls!

After a fun, filled weekend, it is time to really "Step It Up" and get to work as we have alot coming up in our lil "junkin" world!!! Then comes Canton Weekend.......March 3rd thru the 6th! Happy Friday everyone!! Windows open, sun is shining, birds are chirping and the sounds of spring are what I am listening to this morning here in Texas!!! Last night though was the music of Steel Magnolia performing at The Glass Cactus here in Grapevine Tx! They are awesome, and I have loved them ever since they won on the Nashville Show, Can you Duet? And boy can they!!! I think most important though is they are so humble, sweet and just darn cute in person!!!
On to other fun stuff, I want to give a BIG SHOUT OUT to Deidra as she has really worked hard on our blog, and I think she did a great job..........that is not to say after some "trying times" while working on it!!!! We also have a new look on our web site, so when you are surfing around check it out!!!

HAPPY SUNNY SUPER BOWL SUNDAY........After a crazy, cold week of winter here in Texas, it was great to have a "sunny" Sunday! Now, I do love football, but only if our Dallas Cowboys are playing!!! But, since the Super Bowl was played here in Cowboy Stadium, I did watch the game.......but if truth be known, I really just watched for the commercials and snacks! I do know one thing though.......after being iced and snowed in most of the week, it seems like snacks have been a big part of my day!! And judging how my jeans felt after being in sweats and pj's all week, THE SNACKS HAVE GOT TO GO!!! Sooooo, tomorrow being Monday and the 1st day of a new week, I will try to get back on the "healthy eating wagon"!!!!!

But, the main reason I wanted to update our blog, was to share some pics of the windows that we sell in our Canton location. These are designed by my artistic sister-in-law, and are quite the hit! Enjoy and Hope you have a "marvelous Monday"!

Snow, and more snow

YES, here in Texas after being "iced" in all week, we woke up to 4in. of snow!!! Normally I would be excited, and think it is sooooo pretty....BUT NOT TODAY!

Deidra and I really thought we could leave and head out to Canton today, but just not going to happen! I think we are o.k. though as Canton received more snow then we did and there are no shoppers wondering around......which is a wise thing....as today, my hubby drive my car to work, decided to take a short cut down a rather narrow road, and slid in the ditch!!! A sweet couple in a pick up stopped to see if they could help, then they ended up in the ditch! Another person driving by, turned around to see if he could help, and he slid in to the couple in the truck!!! Thennnnnn, another kind person came along on a 4 wheeler and was able to pull my hubby out of the ditch!

Now, you can see why I am not just real excited about our weather! LOL! But, there is a "Happy Ending" to this sliding story.......no one was hurt!

O.K.!!! All I can say is ......I am sooooo tired of being iced in, and I have a real bad case of cabin fever!!! Why is it that when we can't get out, we don't want to do any of the things that we should be taking the time to get done??? All I want to do is EAT and NAP, and that is not how I usually am!!

Deidra and I hope to leave for Canton tomorrow, as we are stil iced in! If we can just make it out of our sub divisions, I think we will be o.k.! Even though, we are suppose to get some snow tonight!! My heart goes out to all of you who live in the part of the country that have been getting sooooooo much snow.......I think I would be a tad bit on the crazy side! And sometimes, I probably seem a little "crazy" in my normal state!! LOL

Just to update my last post, Deidra and I will not be going to Canton until Thursday! After watching the local news and weather, and seeing all the trucks and cars sliding off the road, we thought it would be a safer situation for us to go Thur. we will be open Fri. Sat. and Sunday, but if you happen to brave the cold and are there on Thur. just knock on the door and we will let you in!

Reminds me of that song....." knock 3 times on the ceiling " by Tony Orlando and Dawn! I know that REALLY makes me sound VINTAGE! LOL

Burrrrr...Baby it's COLD outside!

" Ice..Ice..Baby..." That is our theme song here today in the Ft. Worth metroplex!!! Trailer is loaded with goodies for Canton this weekend, parked in the driveway......anyone have a dog sled team out there we could borrow?? LOL! We will be heading out tomorrow afternoon sometime and as the saying goes...."The Show Must Go On"! For those of you that are coming out, Fri. and Sat. are suppose to be sunny and warmer, in fact 55 is the high for Saturday! That will feel like a "hot" summer day compared to what it is right now!

We will be layered up, have our heaters going, and lot's of great goodies for sale.....especially for Valentines Day! Sooooooo, pull out your thermals, ski wear or whatever keeps ya warm, and come on out and see us.........we will be open Thur. Fri. Sat. and Sun. as usual!!!

spring like weather an getting ready for Canton

We have been blessed with two BEAUTIFUL DAYS of spring like weather, and I hope if you live in our neck of the woods, that you have been able to get outside and enjoy it!!! I went to an Estate Sale Fri. and found some awesome treasures.......of which most will be heading to Canton next week! Today, the hubby and I spent the day outside painting furniture that will also be going to Canton. It is amazing how much more enjoyable it is to paint when the sun is out, and you can be in short sleeves and flip flops...especially in January!! We have had such a beautiful week of weather, but........I am afraid that the "Weather Gods'' are not going to be so good to us next week!! In fact, Deidra and I are thinking that maybe we should invest in some insulated coveralls, bling um up, and cover them in lace to give them a "vintage look"! We might just get something started! lol What do you think????? In this business you learn REAL QUICK, that

there is nothing you can do about the weather, so we just have fun and make the best of it!!

I am so excited! I have been re-modeling and re-decorating for at least the past two or three years. I am finally beginning to see the end of the tunnel. Craig and I have been doing this ourselves between his work, my work, and raising our 13 year old son who's social life is constant. I wanted to show you some of the finished work we have done. We have re-textured every wall in our house and glazed it with the Gel Stain Minwax. I LOVE that stuff! I have had the help of a wonderful decorator, who you may know...her name is Cathy(not only my business partner, but my wonderful friend.) Her mom is working on my bedding, otherwise I would have showed that. I have thrown in a couple of pictures of the living, bath and kitchen too. Let me know what you think. HAPPY SUNDAY JUNKIN FRIENDS.............Thought I would take a break from glitter, hearts and shred! For me, today is a flannel pants, no make-up, football and crafting kinda day!!! I have been working on some goodies for our upcoming Canton weekend, and have also managed to hit a few thrift stores this past week! Yesterday, hubby and I hit a couple of good Estate Sales, and then topped the day off with eating at Pappadeaux in Ft.Worth.....they have awesome seafood and I LOVE salmon! In fact did you know that salmon is very good brain food???? I say, whatever it takes!!! LOL @ Deidra has been redoing her bedroom this past week, so in the morning I am going to go and help her decorate, and fluff!!!! One of the things that I really love to do........guess it reminds me of playing house as a little girl! LOL .............I will make sure she posts some pics! The rest of the week we both will be "burning the midnight oil" getting ready for our next Canton which will be Feb. 3rd - 6th! Soooooo, gather up your peeps, and come out and see us!! Hello to all our great blog followers! I have been in Red River New Mexico with most of my family on a ski trip. We had a great time, and while Cathy was wishing for Spring, I was wishing for more snow and fresh powder...haha! We enjoyed all of the snow and beautiful scenery. I will try to post some pictures, but I always seem to screw that up somehow.

Now that we are back home, I am with Cathy and wishing for Spring time weather...what a difference one day can make! Hope everyone is doing well and I hope that all of you have a great New Year in store for you.

For those who have asked...my sister Diann has been on dialysis and seems to have gotten her strength back and is her "old self" again...Thanks to all who asked about her and sent well wishes and prayers. We are still waiting on a transplant....only a few more test to go thru.....hopefully February...I am crossing my fingers!

I have been thinking, and as my hubby would say, " that could be scary"! But, besides being tired of our COLD Winter weather here in Texas, Valentines Day is just around the corner, Sooooooooo thought I would show some of my Grandmothers vintage cards that I am blessed to have!!! My grandma, who we called Ma was born in 1900 and lived to be 86yrs. old! I am often amazed at all the events, and progress in our society that she was able to experience in her life time!! I don't think she ever threw a card or letter away and some of them are just so darn CUTE! I really LOVE to read the back of them!

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF OUR BLOGGIN BUDDIES!!! We were in Canton for New Years weekend and were soooooo thankful that people came out to shop! We never know what to expect, as Jan. and Aug. are our 2 slowest months through the year.......but after a few prayers, and having some good sales on our merchandise, we made it through and came out in the black!!! Now it is time to set some goals for the new year, and get back to work.............as we all kicked back and spent time time enjoying the Christmas Holiday with our families and put Canton on the back burner!!! We do appreciate all of you who support and shop with us, and can I just say we LOVE OUR FRIENDS AND CUSTOMERS!!! All of you are what makes our job, and business sooooooo much FUN!!! Hope you all had a fun, filled Merry Christmas and Santa brought you what your heart desired!

We had our family Christmas at our house this year, and we had over 25, that of which were 10 little kids ranging from 2yrs to 9!!! Now THAT is alot of Holiday Cheer!!!

You know, that is what makes Christmas such a special holiday......celebrating the birth of our sweet baby Jesus, and the laughter and excitment of children opening presents and waiting for Santa to come!!!! This year our grandson being 2 yrs. old was really Fun, and he is what fills our heart and home with sooooooo much love at Christmas!!!

Now, I am in the "RACE" to get as much done as I can before leaving for Canton Wed.!!! Needless to say, all of my Christmas decorations will be staying up for a few more day's or weeks..........maybe I should just say, I hope to get it all down by Valentines Day!! LOL!

We will be having alot of January mark downs this month in Canton, soooooo if you are tired of the shopping malls, and would like to find some fun, unique treasures, come out and spend the New Years with The Girls Gone Junkin in Canton.....Texas that is!

Reflections on our year.......

Hope your stockings are hung by your chimney with care, the presents are wrapped, and the smell of Christmas baking fills the air.........Deidra did get tires back on their truck, and is out " POWER SHOPPING " as I type this post!!! I did finish my shopping, presents are wrapped, and the fun will begin Christmas Eve when our son and his family get here on Friday! Can't wait to spend Christmas Eve with our sweet lil grandson.....and mom and dad! LOL

I can't help but reflect on what a fun filled, good year we have had! We want to give a BIG SHOUT OUT, to our friends, family members, and most of all our wonderful customers and GGJ followers who support what we love to do! This past year, we moved to a bigger location, and it has been soooooooo nice to not have to set up and tear down each and every month......our customers followed us along our way, and we have met so many new ones too! We were chosen as one of the "top" shopping spots in Canton, along with four other great vendors, and we will all be in an article that features Canton shopping spots, in the June issue of Southern Living!!!!

That is an exciting thing for us two junkin girls from lil ole Keller Texas back in the day! LOL!!!!!!!!! I can't forget too, our story of how we started our business being featured as one of MANY in the book, A Cup Of Cappucino For The Entrepreneur's Spirit by Jeretta Nord.

Yes, there are days during the month that we are running around like two crazy people, trying to finish projects, paint furniture make jewelry etc. etc. and get it all ready for Canton, but in reflecting back on our year, we are truly BLESSED!!! We can't wait to see what our new year holds for The Girls Gone Junkin!!!!

Last, but not least I must give a big SHOUT OUT to Woody and Betty, for letting us stay with them as we were working on our new booth, Steve, Craig, and Brian for helping us with the labor it took to get the booth ready! We appreciate it soooooo much! And, without Sue, Jerrie, Pam and Brenda our booth would not be the same!

Well, to say the least I have had an eventful morning, and it is only 8:49am. We woke up this morning only to have one of our vehicles up on blocks...Now if that isn't bad enough....it is blocking the driveway and I cannot get my vehicle out of the driveway. Had to get my son a ride to school and make arrangements for after school pickup. Police said that several were hit in our neighborhood the past few weeks.... Today, I was planning to get ALL the rest of my Christmas shopping done....well, guess not. Now, we have to figure out a way to get it off the blocks and get it to a tire store to get new tires and rims.....Merry Christmas to me right?

Hey, It could be worse....my mom had surgery yesterday and everything turned out fine, and my sister Diann is doing better now that she has been on dialysis for a couple of weeks....still waiting for the kidney transplant.

Today, I guess I will work on Canton goodies. I have got some great new pendants that I really have enjoyed working on. I think I have "glittered till' I can't glitter no more". Hope you all can make it to Canton at the end of this month. Hopefully the weather will be as good as the last one. I think I heard Cathy and Sue talking about having an area of sale items. Be sure to check that out, I'm sure there will be some great finds! I hope that each and everyone of you have a very Merry Christmas and enjoy spending time with your family and friends. The stockings are hung by the chimney with care, in hopes that Saint Nicholas soon will be there!!! Awwwwww, I am breathing a little sigh of relief now as I am almost finished decorating for Christmas!!! I was in a bit of a panic a few days ago though! Today, hubby and I went and picked out a real tree as last year after Christmas, I donated our tree to the Goodwill! It was beginning to look like Charlie Browns tree, a bit sad!!!! I hope all of you are getting ready for Christmas, and are checking your list!!!! Now, that is one thing I still have to do, make my list and start shopping!!! That is on my Monday list!

Back from a wonderful, Canton weekend!!!! The weather was perfect for this time of year, and the shoppers were in the Holiday Shopping Spirit!!! There was just one little "clitch" in the system so to say.........we were late opening on Thur. morning due to a phone alarm malfunction! Sooooo, if you were one of the "early bird shoppers" and we were not there, we are so sorry that you had to come back! But sure glad you did!!!

Now, it is time to make our list, pull out the Christmas decor. and get it "going on" in time for Christmas......I am feeling a tad bit "over whelmed" this morning!!!! If I could just borrow a few of Santa's Helpers........LOL! Enjoy your day!

Count Down to Turkey Day......I am ready, are you???? I so enjoy Thanksgiving!!! We always go to my Aunt Debbies, who is not only like my big sis, but also rates right up there with Martha Stewart in the cooking and decorating dept.!!!! There will be lot's of family, great food, fun and much love!!!!! I am sooooo thankful we have held on to this family tradition!
Sometimes we might not thank so, but we all have soooooo much to be Thankful for! Besides my family, I am sooooooo THANKFUL that God has allowed me to do what I love at this time in my life.....at 56 yrs. "young", most people are dreaming of retirement, and I am just getting started!!! LOL......I love being able to have a business with a dear friend "Deidra", and we both are soooooo Thankful for our customers and friends who support us.....without you, we would not be where we are today!!! I will close with wishing all of you a safe and Happy Thanksgiving, and among the hustle, bustle, I hope you too take a minute to look at all you have to be thankful for in your little world!!! I have to say that I have been a little stressed this past week. I have only gotten bead drops made for Canton. That is all! So, if you are needing bead drops, please stop by our booth...we will have plenty. LOL! On a more serious note, my oldest sister Diann is in the process of a kidney transplant and one of my other sisters Denise will be the donor(if the rest of the testing goes as good as it has been.) Please keep them both in your prayers, and lets hope for a new kidney by Christmas. Yesterday started out at 6:50 with a phone call from Diann needing something...I got out of bed, got my son ready for school, we go to the garage, get in the truck and start pulling out, and the garage door falls on the hood of my truck....(just made the second payment this week).... after a few "choice" words, we make it out of the garage and off to school. I get to my sisters, call her and tell her that I am there and to answer the door. She says OK. Now I am in shorts and a t-shirt, and flip flops....it is 40 something degrees. I wait and no answering at the door. I call two more times and she says ok. Still no answer. Finally I remembered she had given me a key earlier this month, and I used that. She is sitting in her bedroom just waiting for me. I said "why didn't you open the door" she said "I didn't know you were here." Okay, I knew she had either just went crazy or was really sick. I get her dressed and head to my house to get dressed. Pull up into the drive way and my youngest golden retriever is out running the neighborhood. I get her back in the house, get dressed and head to the hospital. My sisters kidney function is down to 5% working. They say that they get confused and disoriented when this happens, now this explains why she didn't answer the door. Diann went in to surgery for an emergency port for Dialysis last night around 5:00pm. She is having her first dialysis today. Let's hope that this will work until she gets her new kidney. Please, keep her in your thoughts. Thanks for listening, and I hope everyone has a really "thankful" Thanksgiving. I love you Diann!

Wellll, I am still under the weather, and I am really gettin tired of being "sick an tired"! I do believe that is words from a good country song some where along the way!! LOL....I am on the mends I think......went to the Dr. yesterday, got a shot, and a Z pack! I must say though, this has forced me to slow down a gear or two!!!

Well, I think I MIGHT be bouncing back from this head cold.....thinks to mucho Mucinex!!!! I have soooooo much to do before Thanksgiving and our next Canton show! But, I just decided not to "STRESS" about it......even though my Halloween decor. is still out!!!

I THINK I CAN, I THINK I CAN, YES......I KNOW I CAN.......get it all done!!! I do believe though that putting away the Halloween decor should be first on my list! If I don't get that done, I am just going to have to mix the Christmas decorations and start a new trend in holiday decor........" Trick or Treat"...."Trim the Tree".....Santa please come visit me!!!@ LOL

Hope you have all enjoyed your weekend! Today, I have had "major head conjestion", so decided to just stay in my p.j.'s and rest!!! Sooooo, if you know of a miracle cure for an old fashioned head cold, please let me know!!!! I REALLY don't have time for this if ya know what I mean!!! Most of you know from our previous post, that we were in an arts and craft show yesterday......WELLLLLLLLL, I just have to say, some things we decide to do are good choices, and some are NOT so good, and some.........ARE REALLY NOT GOOD!!! Just curious if any of you have ever found your junkin self in that position??? All I have to say is that yesterday was a REALLLLLL LONGGGGG DAYYYYYY!!! You know, Deidra and I LOVE what we do!!! We are starting our 4th year in our GGJ Business, and have been blessed in sooooo many ways in such a short period of time......but once in a while we laugh and say to each other, "What were we thinkin"? I believe that is a title in a song...LOL!

On another note...can I just vent for a minute? Is Dancing with the Stars not enough? Now they are going to have Skating with the Stars? Please, I cannot take anymore! Not only are these people already rich, AND have a career....they get paid for doing these shows too? AND, they all get skinner in the process!....... Just saying.......
While we work our tales off physically, and mentally at our "junkin jobs", it seems I can never get ahead (or lose weight).?*?*?.
Maybe we "junkers" should come up with some sort of Junking with the Stars show and we can trade out being the host and all get rich. How does that sound? Okay enough said...just had to get that off of my chest.....:)

Guess it is time for a blog update since Halloween is over and all the stores are full of Christmas decor now!! I must admit though, I have not put my Halloween decor up yet and just hope I have time to pack it up before Thanksgiving!!! Since our Canton weekend, I had a birthday, went to Austin to see our sweet grandson and the family, and Deidra and I are also getting ready to be in a show this Saturday in Keller Tx. at the "Pointe"!!! NOW you know why my Halloween decor is still up! LOL
For those of you that live in the Metroplex or Keller area, Ihope you will come out and see us this Saturday from 9-6 at the Pointe in Keller......we will have lot's of great gift items for Christmas, along with some new jewelry!!! Have a GREAT WEEK!!!!

Good Morning everyone! I have been up early this morning since about 6, and usually the day after Canton, I am still in a "Canton Coma". Not sure why I have so much energy this morning, but I am going to take advantage of it. I am recovering quickly from gallbladder surgery, but I did get a little tired working this past week. Thanks to all of you who checked up on me.

We had so much fun this weekend at Canton and enjoyed everyone's company. You shoppers were so much fun! We all enjoyed dressing up for two days, but by the third...we just couldn't do it again. Our faces were a little "dry" from the makeup and our wigs were getting very "itchy".... But, we are already looking forward to the next Halloween! Now we are going to have to kick in into high gear and get ready for Christmas. There will only be 1 more Canton before Christmas...can you believe that? So get ready to come shop with us for some great stocking stuffers and do your holiday shopping!.....Till' next time!

We are soooo excited that the weather forcast is for beautiful, sunny, and cooler fall days......we will be staying open later on Friday and Saturday since this is one of our busier weekends......will not close until the last shopper drops..LOL!! Rainy, stormy day makes for a "good" day for a blog update!!!! Deidra is doing great after her emergency gall bladder surgery a few days ago, and is planning on being in Canton!!! I think she is worried about me being in charge of the register and cc machine!! LOL! She was not able to go with me to set up at the Gilded Life event yesterday in Dallas but a big shout out to my sister in law Pam for helping me out!!! She is the one who designs and does the old windows and doors that we sell!!! The Gilded Life is just flat wonderful.......Thanks Shea and Debbie for inviting us to be a part of this wonderful event!!! Ya'll have got to check out their web site and read about the 100 yr. old church in Dallas that they had restored and is now where they live!!! BEAUTIFUL and AMAZING is all I can say!!!!! Before I "retire" for the night, thought I would update our blog and try to post some pics from our Hico Show!!! Since our Hico show we have been busy getting ready for another venue that we were invited to set up in.......the group is know as A Gilded Life and it is being held tomorrow night in a 100 yr. old church that has been converted into a house where Shea who is the host for the event lives!!! The church is located in downtown Dallas and from the pics I have seen is quite fabulous!!!! Now for the not so fab news........Deidra was in the E.R. all night and had to have emergency gallbladder surgery today!!! The surgery went well and she is back home tonight, but will not be able to go to the show tomorrow night or Canton next week!!!! Needless to say, I was a little on the STRESSED side today, but the most important thing is she is O.K.!!!! Now you know how we love Halloween, and I will really miss her in Canton next week and the fact that she will not be there to join in the costume attire Sat. Guess I will just be one lone Goul Gone Junkin!!!

Sooooooo, say a prayer that she will have a speedy recovery, and that I will NOT screw up the register to bad next week!!!

Back from a fun, filled weekend in Hico at the Homestead Show!!! The weather was beautiful, and it was so nice to see some of our friends and customers from Canton come out for the show!!! Even Jewel, the singer came out to check out the show and shop!!! That was pretty exciting! Even though I did not get to see her as I was helping a customer when she was in our booth. Our friend Denis from Ruby Grace's was reallllllllllllllllll excited as she purchased a vintage prom dress from him! Be sure and check out his blog for the full story!!!

A BIG SHOUT OUT to all of you who came out to Canton and paid us a visit this past weekend!!!! We were soooooo busy, but loved every minute of it! Have you ever had to go to the bathroom so bad that you couldn't think of ANYTHING else but finding a bathroom? Well, that is what Cathy and I were thinking about yesterday when we pulled into Canton. We were going a little early to get ready for next week. We pulled up to our booth and our friend Blake was there ready and willing to do some work we had hired him to do. We said our hello's and then proceeded to tell him that we had to go to the bathroom and would be right back. We had noticed that he had hung a chandelier for us, but of course it was the wrong one. We showed him the correct one to hang in its' place. Cathy and I jumped into our car and headed to the wonderful brick bathrooms........locked.......Cathy spotted a port-o-potty......jumped out of the car, running like something was chasing me.......locked......After I said a few "not very nice words", we jumped back into the car...I told Cathy that I had taken my water pill that morning, and I didn't think I was going to make it. About that time, my phone rang...picked it up and Blake was telling me he needed help...he had fallen off the ladder....we forgot about needing to go potty and raced back to the booth. Blake was laying on the ground, glass everywhere, and in so much pain. He thought he had fractured his ankle. Thank God he did not hit his head or hurt his back. It could have been so much worse. Cathy and I picked him up, me trying not to wet my pants as I lifted him...lol....and got him in the truck. By this time, for me, it was wet my pants or go somewhere in the booth. Now this is where you will see, I have no modesty...come on girls...I know that you have been there before. My childhood instincts kicked in and we started looking for a cup to use. I remember having to do this on long trips for vacation, my dad hated to stop and there were 4 of us girls. Needles to say 2 cups were need by this time, but I finally got relief. Cathy then followed after me....you can say we are not just "junkers"...but "resourceful junkers". So then we proceed for the highway to the nearest emergency room.....1st stop...just sort of a Care Now, couldn't take him, we needed to go to Terrell. We head towards Terrell, construction work...traffic backed up....Blake is hurting worse and tells me to do an illegal turn(pulling trailer) and go the wrong way up an entrance ramp....car coming towards me, I sped up and made it..."whew" thank God no cops around...we are heading down some country road, I have no idea where we are, in the middle of nowhere...I look at my gas tank we are on "0". I forgot, I needed to get gas when we pulled into Canton. Saying a little prayer to myself....we made it to a gas station in time. By this time, probably 45 minutes had passed and Blake was trying to control his pain....he was being so quiet, and Cathy and I were talking his head off. He was probably wanting us to shut up. We finally arrived at an ER in Terrell, wheeled him in, got X-rays, and he had fractured his heel. How painful is that? They cast him and then...they were out of crutches. What hospital could be out of crutches? All they had was one left..One? How do you have just one crutch? Anyway, they gave it to him and he hobbled back to the car. By this time he was in so much pain, and we felt so sorry for him. We made it back to the booth, his girlfriend came, picked him up, and took him home. Cathy and I took a deep breath and were ready to start with the booth. Rain starts pouring down about that time, and I needed to move the car and back the trailer into the booth. I go to get in my car....my car won't start...battery is dead. OMG! We just looked at each other and decided that today was not the day to come down and work on the booth. I go to get my jumper cables in the back of my car, and was going to find someone to jump me off, then I remembered that I had let my nephew borrow them and I had not gotten them back...UGH!! We called Cathy's sister-in-law and she was heading down later that night. She rescued us by stopping at Walmart and picked up some jumper cables for me. Later that night, we did finally get the trailer unloaded and arranged the booth a bit, but nothing like we expected to do. Finally about midnight, we decided to head home...what a day.
Thought I would just share this little story with you and see what stories you may have to share. I am sure many of you have had days like that. Needless to say, we will have a full booth this month with lots of goodies and decor. Please stop by and say hello if you can! Hope to see you soon!

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend!!! I sure did, as my sweet lil grandson Kyan was here for the weekend! In fact, I posted his sweet pic with his Texas size cowboy hat on last week! Gosh he is alot of fun!

Before he came up I spent some time getting my Halloween decor out so we could all enjoy it.......I LOVE getting ready for fall and Halloween! In fact, Deidra and I will be heading to Canton Friday to get a head start on decorating our booth for the fall and "Trick or Treat" season.....Can't wait!!

Good Morning Blogger friends and Happy Wednesday to ya!!! Before I get on with my day, thought I would post a pic of my sweet lil grandson Kyan who turned 2 in June.........Besides a love for junkin, he holds an even bigger spot in my heart!! He will be here this weekend so I will not be hittin the "junkin" trail, but will be wearing my "GIGI" hat and spending time with him!!! Anyway, one of our favorite customers has a son who is 6 years old. His name is Connor Dunn. Anyway, he brought home some paperwork from school and his mom sent me the paperwork. Wellllll, it is a Friday night and while I "listen" to the Ranger vs Yankee's game, thought I would post a lil post!!! Hope to maybe hit a few sales in the morning, and then start decorating for the fall season.......even though it is still a "HOT" one here in Texas!!! I just love decorating for the fall and Halloween season!!

Which brings me to say..........we can't wait to get our booth all ready for fall and Halloween..........plans are already in the works!!!! One little hint of what is in store is...........remember the Alfred Hitchcock movie "The Birds"???? O.K. that is all I am going to say for now!!! Good afternoon fellow bloggers! Well, the rain has stopped for just a moment and as usual, I always have problems with "my wonderful" computer...so let's see if I can get through this blog without any problems...

Had a great weekend show at Canton. Seemed like shoppers were in the shopping mood and already looking for Christmas gifts. We got the pleasure of meeting one of Brenda's friends who makes vest just like hers. Alexa lives in California. It was such a pleasure having her and Brenda down for a couple of days to help us out with their beautiful "vintage look" clothing/vests. We even had TWO BRIDES come in and buy their wedding attire! It was so much fun to see what the girls put together for these ladies. I have a picture of one of the brides. Her name is Sharlene Cloud Bevill. Her and her mom Gayle Cloud had a great time shopping and trying on the vintage clothing. She is going to have a vintage wedding in October. Won't that be beautiful?

We had a great visit with Amber, our hairdresser. Everyone there said she had me looking like Beetlejuice, so we just took a picture. We have so much fun when we are getting our hair done with her. We hung out Friday and Saturday. She took us to an awesome place to eat in Terrell called Dos Aces for Jeri's birthday. Great food, drinks, and company, well except for me having a little meltdown over some crickets.....(we ate on the patio)...yes I have a fear of crickets. We learned alot out there on that patio, we are looking forward to eating there next month. It was also great hanging out with Whitney and Susan from Brassy Blueberries, along with their group of friends. We actually enjoyed our nights instead of just going to the cottage!

Thanks to Billy and Denis for always coming by to see us and check out what we have....

Well it has started to rain again, so I better hurry up and finish...I will try to post pictures now..Hope it works! I am sure Cathy will be on here soon, she has really been busy since we got back. Till' next time......Deidra

Deidra and I are in the "PRE CANTON CRUNCH MODE" and while I seem to be burning the midnight oil, thought I would take a break and make a new blog post!!! Hope all of you had a fun, filled weekend, and if you had the chance to go "junkin", hope you discovered some great treasures!!!

Here are some of our new purses that we will be bringing to Canton! FYI......we do take orders on these and no two are ever just alike! While I design the purses, my mom does all of the sewing! They are made using vintage and newer fabrics and embellished with old lace, trims and a lil bling! They are all lined and have a pocket that will hold your phone, and they come with our original Girls Gone Junkin label! Now for the best part, they range from $ 45.oo to the most expensive being $ 200.00! O.K. girls start working on that Christmas list!!!!!

Hope you all are having a great Wednesday!! I have been designing purses, pillows and lamp shades, and my overloaded brain needs a BREAK!! LOL! Soooooo what more to do then hope on facebook and our blog!!! The most exciting news with me for today is ..............I am LOVING this weather!!!! We have had some much needed rain, and it has made for such a cooler day......so nice to be out of the triple digits!!!! It really makes me feel that Fall might actually be around the corner!!! Acording to the merchandise in Hobby Lobby, fall came and went, and Christmas is around the corner!!! Did I miss something in my crazy, busy junkin world?????

I have not taken any new pics of goodies for Canton yet, soooooooooo thought I would post a really vintage picture!! Yesterday, was my wedding anniversary, and we celebrated 37 years!!! And NO, I did not get married in Jr. High...He he he!!! I did marry my high school sweetie though!!! Looking back, that is a LONGGGGGGG time!! Like everyone else, we have had some "bumps" in the road, but over all, it has been a fun ride!!!!

Happy Monday to all of our "junkin" peeps!!! Well, school started today, and I am sure all of you momma's out there that have lil ones are filling alot of "mixed" emotions today!!!! I say enjoy your "me" time and do things that you enjoy, and then when the lil ones get home put your "MOMMY" hat on and give them lot's of hugs and love and do for them!!!

One great thing about school starting, is that we KNOW that fall is just around the corner and then comes the Holidays........one of my favorite times of year! With that also comes "SHOPPING"!!! Sooooooooooooo, gather up your shopping, junkin, peeps and plan a trip to Canton! I promise you will find not only great shopping, but also great food and just plain ole FUN!!!! We will also be in the Hico Homestead Show again this fall which is another great and fun get away!!! The dates are Fri. Oct. 15th and Sat. Oct. 16th, and talk about GREAT VENDORS, you won't be disappointed!!! And if you have never been to the Homestead Store, all I can say is WOW and over the top awesome!!!

Deidra and I Love the shabby, vintage look and that is what we have always centered our "Look" around! However, we also love the "gypsy" fun, funky stuff and try to work that in with some of our guitars! Soooooo here is just a lil peek at what I am talkin about! Enjoy! And.........just in case you are wonderin, we also take orders and it does make for a fun, funky and unique Christmas present!!!!! HAPPY DAY and always HAPPY JUNKIN!!!

Hope you are all having a "FUN FRIDAY"!! I was up early and out the door in hopes of finding a few "undiscovered treasures", and I did!!! Stopped at an Estate Sale first, and then continued down the junkin path to one of my favorite 2nd hand stores! By this time though it was starting to warm up, so I headed to Mickey D's for one of those cold mocha frappee drinks, picked up some dry cleaning and headed home!!! And by the way, if you have not tried one of those drinks, they are darn good!!
Now I am trying to decide what to do next on my list! Do I price and pack all the goodies that are spread out all over my dining room table? Get started working on something creative for Canton? Make my bed, or just crawl back in it and take a lil "kitty cat" nap????? I know which one I would like to do, but I will just have to make ya'll wonder!!! Meow.............anyway, hope you enjoy your weekend, and find lot's of treasures if you hit the junkin trail!!!!!

Welllll, guess the Lord gave me a dose of " motivation medication" as I have been on a roll since my LAZY SUMMER SUNDAY!!! Maybe that 2 degree drop in temp. yesterday did it!! LOL Anyway, I have been pricing treasures, making my list of furniture that has to be painted and working on some jewelry!!!!! Still have lot's more to do though before taking a load to Canton!!!!
Deidra still has been working on some new jewelry designs in between getting her son ready to go back to school next week........just that is a job in it-self!!! { Is that a word? }.......oh well, it is in my lil ole Texas junkin world!!!! LOL ! Today, I will be designing some new fall purses, and just getting ready for Canton weekend...!

Happy "Lazy" Sunday afternoon!!! I have soooooo much that I need to get started on, but find myself just wanting to take a nap!!! Could it be the HEAT, middle age, or the fact that I just need a day and DO NOTHING!!! O.K. Let's just "skip" the middle age thing cause you are only as old as you feel right? Maybe today though is NOT a good day for making this statement!!!
I did though find some treasures out on the junkin trail Friday and Saturday, and then we went to Waco to have dinner with our son, Amanda and my sweet grandson Kyan last night! Maybe that is part of the problem..........1 Mexican martini, good food, and getting home late! Sure was a fun time though!
Oops, looked at the clock and see it is after 2....ya know what that means......Sonic Happy Hour!!!! Soooooo, guess I will get off of my "bloggin" roll, go get my fix for the day and see if that PERKS ME UP!!!!! If not, I will be doin some Day Dreamin on this Sunday afternoon!!!! Before I call it a night, thought I would do a lil bloggin as we say here in Texas!!! It was for sure another HOT one today....the last I heard it was 104 and 105 is predicted for tomorrow!!! YIKES, when is it ever going to end???? I am going to start praying for a "cold front" before we venture back to Canton.....anything but triple digits would be wonderful!!!
On another note, MARK YOUR CALENDARS OCT. 15TH AND 16TH as that is when we will be back in Hico Tx. for the Homestead show!!! Word is, that it will be even bigger and better then the spring show!!! Soooooo call your favorite "junkin" peeps, start saving your $$$$ and plan to come out for a fun, filled day of shopping with us in Hico! HAPPY MONDAY blogger and junkin friends! Welllllll, it was another HOT weekend here in the Lone Star State!!! My junkin hubby and I did get out early Saturday to hit a few sales and managed to find a few treasures!! We were back home by noon though and then had a lazy summer day in the pool!!!!
This week, it is time to start working on goodies and thinking about what I want to have ready for the next Canton weekend as the month does tend to "fly bye"!!!
last month, we had a fun and sweet group of ladies shop with us from the "Gilded Life" tour. They came to Dallas from all over the United States, and a day of shopping in Canton was on their agenda......they for sure did not let the Texas heat keep them from having a good ole time!!! I will post some pics of them and some of our other favorite friends.......Enjoy! Back from our Canton weekend and I would say the word for each day would be HOT, HOT and HOTTER! But despite the heat, we had alot of shoppers!!! One group being the girls on the Gilded Life bus tour! We met sooo many sweet ladies in this group, and they do like to shop!!! We enjoyed each and every one of them and do hope they pay us a visit again!!! They for sure did not let our Texas Heat keep them from having a fun time!!

Deidra and I have a full month off, and will be getting ready to kick off our busy season starting Labor Day Weekend!!! So gather up your junkin peeps, and plan a weekend in Canton........It is such a fun, filled trip for some good ol shopping and Row 46 is a GREAT PLACE to visit!!!!
